The Tivoli Park is the largest park in Ljubljana. It was opened in 1813 and renovated before the Second World War according to the plans of Slovene architect Jože Plečnik. Together with Rožnik and Šiška hill, it forms the Protected Area Tivoli, Rožnik and Šiška hill (Landscape Park), which covers 509 hectares.
There are also two castles in the park, Cekin Castle and Tivoli Castle, which house the International Centre of Graphic Arts and the National Museum of Contemporary History, which we will visit as part of a guided tour of the park.
The walk will take us from the Tivoli car park, past the sports facilities to Jakopič Avenue. After that we will walk to Cekin Castle and visit the National Museum of Contemporary History and get to know the history of Slovenia in the 20th century.
Followed by a walk to Tivoli Castle and a tour of the International Centre of Graphic Arts, which shows the rich history of graphic creativity in Slovenia.
