The natural beauties of the Bohinj basin have always been attracting many visitors from all over the world. For centuries, the inhabitants of this remote part of Slovenia, at the foot of the Julian Alps, have been looking for ways to survive and develop their own culture. Heaters, old ironworks, sacral buildings and cuisine are the reminders of a hard life in these remote but beautiful places.
Municipality of Bohinj lies in the heart of the Triglav National Park. Here, cultural heritage intertwines with the natural beauties of the Julian Alps. A visit to the Tomaž Godec Museum will give us an insight into the history of these places.
Then with a short drive we will visit Lake Bohinj, where we will enjoy the beautiful views of the lake and the mountains that surround it. We will visit the Church of St. John the Baptist, famous for its Gothic paintings.
Our next stop will be in the village of Studor, where after a short walk we will visit a local farm and refresh ourselves with local delicacies. After lunch, we will visit Oplen House and get to know the simple life in Bohinj once upon a time.
Trip to Bohinj have impressed and enthralled me so much that I will return very soon – a real break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
